"So seriously though, what are you going to do with all your money?" Rona prompted Brent. She leant with her elbows on the counter: from that, Brent could tell that she was settling in for a long conversation. Discreetly, he shut the database program on the computer.

"Who says I'm gonna do anything with it?" he said.

"What, so you're just gonna sit on it? Build your nest-egg?"

"Why not?"

"You're not even thirty! Christ, you can't be that dull." But Rona thought: He can be that sensible.

"I kind of like just knowing it's there" Brent said. "It's nice to know I have something to fall back on."

"What, suddenly you're shy about money?" But in fact Rona had no idea if he was normally shy about money or not.

"It's a few thousand" Brent said. That was all he was prepared to say about it.

"And, what, it's just numbers on a bank statement?"

"God, I hope it's a bit more than that!"

"But you don't have any plans for it."

Brent shrugged.

"I don't believe you." Rona looked at him, and shook her head. "Nup, I don't believe it."

"Well okay, so I might use it for something."

"I knew it!" Rona crowed. "What?"

"I dunno" Brent said.

"Come on Brent, I know you. Yeah, right, 'You don't know.' You always know. You're not a guy who leaves things to chance."

"Maybe I'll surprise you."

Rona raised an eyebrow doubtfully.

After a few seconds of that look, Brent relented. "All right, so maybe I was thinking I might go overseas. Travel a bit."

"I knew it!" Rona declared again. "Awesome!" Then the obvious question occurred to her: "Where?"
