"Is Shelly staying the night tonight?" Sacha asked Hannah.

"I dunno, I guess so" Hannah said.

"Because we need to know for certain if she is or not."

"Do we?" Hannah smiled: she imagined this was one of the funny little hang-ups that Sacha got occasionally. "Well we can wait a bit to ask her, can't we?" Shelly was in the shower: she'd gone for a jog, and when she'd returned she'd complained about being sweaty so she'd gone to clean herself. Jogging was her new thing: she claimed that she had weight to lose before summer. Hannah, of course, just made jokes about getting Shelly sweaty all over again, and Shelly wished that Hannah would have said something about how she didn't need to worry about losing weight for summer, but Hannah hadn't, so Shelly had gone to have a shower.

"I reckon she'll probably stay the night" Hannah said confidently.

"Because if she's staying the night she'll have to fill out the census with us" Sacha said.

"Oh shit, that again?"

"Yeah. Haven't you seen the ads?"

"I haven't been watching T.V." Hannah had been so disappointed by the low standard of the latest batch of reality T.V. shows that she'd sworn off the television almost completely for the last couple of weeks.

"Well anyway we need to sit down and fill it out" Sacha said.

"This getting-all-excited-about-filling-out-a-form thing," Hannah said, "is that a Canberra thing?"
