Episode 43 - 9 April 2005

The next morning Rona was awoken by a knock on her bedroom door. She opened it and found one of her housemates on the other side.

"Rona, your friend's passed out on the sofa again."

"Oh, shit." Rona groaned and then yawned. "I'll be right down."

A minute later she was gently shaking Hannah awake. Hannah moved and opened her eyes, and then smiled at the fuzzy Rona-shaped blob she saw in front of her. "Hi, babe."

"Hi." Rona cleared her throat. "Hannah, now you know I love you darling, and you know the day I gave you the key to my house was a very happy day in my life -"

"Uh-huh." Hannah kept smiling, apparently taking this all at face value.

"But -" said Rona, "you've got to stop crashing out here. Or at least, if you're gonna do it, let me know beforehand."

Hannah tried to sit up, without much success. "But," she started, "I was gonna go back to my place, it's just your door came along first. Besides, I couldn't tell whether it was your house or mine."

"Your house is white" said Rona. "And in Brunswick."

Hannah shut her eyes and lay back down.

Rona sighed. "Okay then." She stood up and stretched, and went to the kitchen to get Hannah a large glass of water. "Drink this" she said. "What were you doing last night?"

Hannah pressed her hand over her face, her eyes still shut. "I was out with Alain."

"Okay" said Rona, "if there's a story in that I don't wanna hear it." She went back into the kitchen, and called out to Hannah: "Well now I'm up I may as well make breakfast. Do you want some?"

"No thanks" croaked Hannah.

Rona's housemate came back downstairs, and entered the kitchen and ground some coffee. Hannah groaned from the adjacent sitting room.

"How long is she going to be here?" hissed Rona's housemate.

"Looks like a while" replied Rona apologetically. "I'll move her up to my room. Don't worry, by the looks of her she's not going to cause much trouble." Rona went back to the sitting room and squatted down next to Hannah. "Hannah, baby, I'm gonna go up Richmond way later this arvo. D'you wanna come?"

Hannah opened her eyes and turned her head slowly towards Rona. "Oh, I think this hangover's gonna keep me busy for a while, gorgeous" she said.

"Okay then. You just lie there and wallow in self-pity then. I'm gonna have a shower."
