Episode 479 - 3 May 2007

Alain rang up Rona. It was something he hadn't done in a long while. Rona couldn't pretend that she wasn't surprised to hear from him.

"Um, how are you, Alain?" she asked.

"Good" Alain replied. "Listen, you know about the music biz."

"Kinda -"

"You know anyone at Triple-F?"

"Triple-F?"

"Community radio, Rona. I mean I know you weren't writing for Rolling Stone or anything, but I figure community radio'd be about your level. Right?"

"Well . . . I think the Word ran a couple of interviews with people there, maybe, but other than that -"

"Cool, could you find them for me?"

"What?"

"Find the interviews. I wanna look at them."

"What," Rona laughed, "do you think I have every back-issue of the Word on the Street sitting around in my house, like a library or something?" There was no answer. "Alain, I don't have every back issue of the Word sitting around in my house! I don't have any!"

"None of them?" Alain sighed and hummed in thought. "Would the library have any?"

"Which library?"

"I dunno . . . the State Library?"

"The State Library?" Rona almost had to put the 'phone down from laughing. "Alain, it's street press! They don't even use it to wrap fish and chips."

"Well . . . fuck! Where am I gonna get copies of the interviews from then?"

"Probably not anywhere, Alain. I couldn't even tell you which issues they were in. Why d'you wanna see them, anyway? Why so interested in Triple-F all of a sudden?"

"They've been playing TerrorFractals tracks" Alain said. "Well, they've been playing one track, anyway. At least once."

"You're shitting me! Alain, that's great! Mal and the boys must be thrilled. So you wanna book 'em for an interview at the station or something, yeah?"

"Oh, shit, yeah that too! Wait, I'm just gonna write that down." Rona heard him scuffling for a pen on the other end of the line. Eventually he returned. "But I wanted to find out which D.J. there's been playing them. And get in touch with them. And ask 'em how they got it. 'Cause Mal says it wasn't from him or . . . either of the other guys. Except I don't know any names of any of the D.J.s there."

"Have you been to the station's website?" Rona asked. "And looked through their playlists?"

Alain stopped writing. "They have a website?"
