Sacha and Shelly could hear the music from outside the venue when they arrived, and Shelly's heart leapt with anxiety as she thought they'd missed the start of the gig, then set in despair when she realised it was far too early for the TerrorFractals's set and that she and Sacha would still have to sit through the support band - and then swelled with delight when she paused to actually listen to the music from the band currently playing, and realised that it was in fact pretty good.

"Something wrong?" Sacha asked her, noticing that she'd stopped walking.

"What? No, I'm fine. Let's go."

They got to the door and the bouncer announced that entry would cost them each seven dollars. "Seven dollars" he said, no more, demonstrating an admirable economy of words and barely even glancing at them.

"Oh," Shelly said, but then before she reached into her pocket for the money she suddenly realised: "Wait, we might be on the door. Sacha, do you think we're on the door?"

"I don't know" Sacha shrugged. "Rona didn't even invite me. And it's not her gig, she just knew about it."

"We might be on the door" Shelly said, undeterred, and she turned to the bouncer: "Shelly? My name might be on the door."

The bouncer checked the list and shook his head.

"Wait, shit, my name wouldn't be on there. What about Hannah?" she asked. "Sacha? Wait, I'll give Rona a call, I'll find out" she assured the bouncer, who didn't seem concerned one way or the other. He was shifting his weight from foot to foot to try to keep warm.

Shelly got out her 'phone and unlocked the touch-screen and then realised: "Wait, what the fuck am I doing? I don't have Rona's number! Christ, I'm all over the place tonight." She turned back to Sacha. "Sash, do you have it?"

"We're not on the door, Shelly" Sacha said. "Come on, why 'd we be on the door?"

"And it's only seven dollars" the bouncer reminded them helpfully, because by now a small queue had formed behind them.
