"I just hope it's not gonna be weird, next time I see her" Hannah said as she folded a jumper that had been left by a customer in a heap on a table, half-falling to the floor. "God, people make such a fucking mess."

"I know her" Hannah's work-mate Jacinta said, "she'll be cool. It's not like you did anything horrible. Did you?"

"Just got horribly drunk!" Hannah laughed. She placed the re-folded jumper on top of a stack of identical items, and turned her attention to the next table. "It was embarrassing, though. I haven't got drunk like that in so long. I think I've lost fitness! I reckon I can't hold my booze like I could before. I need to get back out there more."

"How much did you have?" Jacinta asked.

"I can't remember. A bit. Not a massive amount, I didn't think."

Jacinta raised an eyebrow and started counting the money in the shop's till. "I hope that's all it was . . ." she said.

"What -" Hannah looked at her. "You don't think . . .?"

"Did you leave your drink alone anywhere?"

"Well yeah, so I could go dance, but -" she shook her head. "No way. No-one was hitting on me all night. Except that sleazy guy at the beginning, and by the time I started puking it was ages after we'd left that club."

Jacinta shrugged. "You're probably right. You probably just need to get used to drinking again. We're all going out again this Friday, if you want." She started making a stack of the red twenty-dollar notes. "Twenty, forty, sixty . . ."

"With Shelly?" Hannah asked.

"Maybe!" Jacinta smiled cheekily. "Fuck, I lost count. Twenty . . . Forty . . ."

"I dunno" Hannah said. "I think it might be weird. I dunno, I'll think about it."

"What were you just saying! Twenty . . ."

"I know, I know, I'll probably go out somewhere on Friday. But not if Shelly's around. I don't wanna look desperate."

"Are you desperate?" Jacinta asked her. "I mean, god, I can just give you her 'phone number if you want." She looked down at the notes in her hand. "Oh, come on! Okay, shut up for just a sec, I need to get this right." She started counting again.
