Rona and Sacha made their way further down Brunswick Street to a bar which had once been old but which now had a thin veneer of newness slapped hastily over it. The front window was plastered with A4 flyers for a band called the Decomposers. The date on the flyer indicated that this was the bad Rona and Sacha were there to see.

Sacha gave Rona a look which was equal parts despair and irritation. "Oh lighten up, it's not as bad as it sounds" said Rona.

"I thought you said they were awful."

"They are" explained Rona. "But don't you think they sound appalling?"

For three dollars they got inside the bar where a small crowd was gathered, made up of equal parts punk die-hards and stragglers out for a good time - any kind of a good time.

Sacha peered at one of the flyers, which were also scattered liberally around the inside of the bar. "Who's this?" she asked, pointing to the support act listed at the bottom.

"No idea" replied Rona. "Guess we'll find out soon. Let's get a drink."

They walked over to the bar - and, to their surprise, found Hannah perched on a stool there.

"Took your time!" she said sarcastically at Rona. "Have difficulty getting here on those short little legs of yours?" She gave Rona her cheekiest grin; Rona shook a fist at her in mock-aggravation, and then leaned forward and gave her a hug.

Formalities over, Hannah turned to Sacha. "Well congratulations, gorgeous!" she said. "Rona tells me Si was fucking salivating at the idea of signing you up."

"Well he was enthusiastic, I suppose. More about the column than me, I'd imagine."

"Aww . . ." Hannah dismissed this statement with a wave of her hand. "You're too modest." She took a sip of her drink. "Don't worry though, you're cute when you're being modest."

Sacha smiled a little awkwardly; she wasn't good at taking compliments at the best of times.

Rona tugged Hannah's arm. "So we were wondering about this support act. You heard of her? Any good?"

"Dunno" said Hannah. She took another sip and turned to the barman. "Hey Jake" she shouted.

Jake turned. "Yo!"

"Support act. Who is she? What does she do?"

"Burlesque" replied Jake.

Hannah turned back to Rona and Sacha. "There you go then" she said. "Burlesque. Punk and burlesque. It's the complete evening!" And with that she raised her glass to the two of them. "Cheers!"
