"The sex must've been good
that night" Hannah said knowingly, approvingly. Rona had been
telling her about the holiday.
Rona blushed. "That's none
of your business!" she said in a voice that was caught somewhere
between appalled and embarrassed.
"God, you've still got this
weird Catholic vibe going on sometimes" Hannah said teasingly.
"You like having the sex, but you don't like talking about
it." She looked at Rona with concern. "You did do it that
night, didn't you? He didn't just crap out and go to sleep on you?
Please tell me you didn't go on holiday and not have sex on your
one night away."
Rona blushed more deeply, but in
a way that Hannah could tell meant that she was about to spill her
secrets. "It was sweet" she said. "Really - romantic,
actually. I mean it isn't, normally, you know? Normally it's just
kinda fumbly and bumbly and funny and intense. But this time it
was just sweet. It was really nice."
Hannah rolled her eyes. She hadn't
really heard the latter part of Rona's statement: the earlier part
had reminded her too much of her own experiences. "God, sex
with boys is such a drag" she said. "They always need
help getting everything in the right place. And then they're always
apologising."
"I think maybe you haven't
been with the best boys" Rona frowned.
"Well let's face it, honey,
it's not my area of expertise."
"Mind you, I had to talk him
into it" Rona continued.
"You had to talk a boy into
sex? That must be a first!"
"I think he was worried I wouldn't
want to. You know, 'cause of the whole 'holiday with the ex-girlfriend'
thing."
"Was that an issue, in the
end?"
"No, we were fine" Rona
said. "Once we were on the road it didn't even get mentioned.
Well, he was never gonna mention it, not after last time. But I
didn't care too much about it."
"That's good."
"But I could tell he was nervous."
"'Til the sex started"
Hannah grinned.
"A bit during, too" Rona
said.
